Acmispon americanus
American bird's foot trefoil (or Spanish lotus)
The native annual herb Acmispon americanus is a larval food plant of the Melissa blue, acmon blue, and Afranius duskywing. These photos are from Lake Cuyamaca, right at the Trout Pond trailhead parking area. This plant does well in disturbed areas.
Acmispon americanus. This Fabaceae-family plant was formerly called Lotus purshianus. It likes moisture and can be found throughout California except for the deserts.
